44 Days of Witchery Day 22: Current moon phase

Awesome photo by uber-talented Mr. T
We are in the new moon. It is approximately 8.2% full. As a Wiccan, I maintain that the waxing moon is a good time for new projects, creative work, and building.

I've been working on a journal. Apparently, I'm supposed to have been doing this for years since I began my Georgian training and it's a common practice to keep a magickal diary. Some Wiccans and Witches call it a Book of Light or a Book of Mirrors in contrast to the Book of Shadows. I've never been consistent at keeping a physical journal. Many times during my childhood I attempted to keep a diary, but failed. A diary is a dangerous thing and I've often felt the safest place for secrets is within. But a journal can serve other purposes and I have journaled in some ways. This blog is a record and a way for me to process and I have a lot of notes in various places.

A couple of weeks ago I attended an introduction to Landmark Education and that inspired me to journal. I've been working on collecting my various notes into one journal and to use that to track some magickal projects and other personal development work. It will end up being a combination of handwritten and typed material. I'm really over the idea that things have to be "in your hand of writ". This is the millennium, not the middle ages (where most people didn't know to write!), and my online reality is my offline reality; it's all the same. Plus I'm anal-retentive and I need to be able to make edits and shift pages around.

This journal will look somewhat like my Georgian Book of Shadows, which I love and value so much - lots of handwritten content with some typed material printed on parchment and artfully pasted in along with more artwork. I'm looking forward to it.

What are you working on during this new moon?
