44 Days of Witchery Day 2: A myth or story from folklore

Oxum
In 2008, when I had a consultation with Eleggua, I was instructed against wearing all yellow because Oshun doesn't like it. I thought this was curious since yellow is Oshun's color, but my padrino explained.

Oshun's early life was riddled with tragedy and poverty. At one point, she owned only one white dress. Oshun is the orisha of love, beauty, and sexuality. Naturally, she could not be seen wearing a dirty dress. She went to the river and washed it daily. With all the wearing and washing, eventually the dress faded from white to yellow. Thus, yellow is Oshun's color. It is bittersweet. It is the rich yellow of honey and the golden sun, but also a reminder of a sad and difficult time for her.
